At Merck, many international employees work, and part of these employees (for example, because they have been working at Merck for a certain number of years) are offered Dutch language lessons. English is the primary language used on the work floor, and because the participants mainly come from EU countries, passing exams is not a top priority. For the participants, it was mainly important to learn or improve Dutch in everyday situations during the course. NedLes handled the intakes for Merck, and then groups at different levels were created. The employees attended Dutch lessons for 12 weeks.
