Linda Verstraten studied Dutch linguistics and literature at the University of Amsterdam. She then started her doctoral research on idioms and fixed phrases. After her PhD, she worked for a few years as a translator English-Dutch and project manager at a translation agency. In 2001 she gave up her job and started work as a teacher of Dutch as a second (or first) language. She has been working with great pleasure and enthusiasm ever since! Linda is also an assessor for the Staatsexamen. She collaborated on a Dutch teaching method and wrote De omgevallen boekenkast for NT2 students.
Good atmosphere and friendliness are very important for the lessons. When students feel at ease, they will be able to speak Dutch more freely. What makes NT2 lessons so interesting is being in contact with people from all parts of the world, helping them to learn Dutch and find their way in society.
Linda likes to travel. She also likes music, she loves to read and in doing so tries to improve her French.
