Mariëtte studied Dutch Language and Literature and Media History. Before she started training as an NT2 teacher in 2022, she did historical research and wrote (history) books. She also likes to read a lot, but she prefers to be outside: cycling or walking in nature. And ice skating in the winter, if possible on natural ice, but otherwise on the Jaap Edenbaan.
The most important thing about the language lessons, according to Mariëtte, is that the atmosphere is good and the students feel safe to talk and dare to make mistakes. She especially enjoys talking about Dutch culture and about the differences and similarities with other cultures and customs. And of course you can laugh a lot!
