Sarah Bouanan earned her teaching degree at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, but quickly learned that she wanted to be concerned with more than just the subject Dutch. Thus she decided to teach isolated migrant women as a volunteer, after which she began teaching expats Dutch at a variety of schools.
Sarah finds getting people from all sorts of different cultural backgrounds acquainted with the Dutch language to be an enormous challenge. She loves experiencing from up close how every individual uniquely tries to make the language their own. She thinks it is extremely educational to discover the differences and similarities between learners and to teach them Dutch, step-by-step. It gives her much fulfillment when she can accompany others in their lingual development.
In her spare time, Sarah likes to read or take part in long distance hikes through the Amsterdam Forest.
