Yolant is a linguist with a wide experience in both work and life. After starting as a Dutch and English teacher, she worked with a variety of groups including homeless teenagers, people with psychiatric problems and school instructors. She used to work as a supervisor, trainer and coach. During the last couple of years, she has enjoyed helping newcomers and expats with learning Dutch and finding their roots in the Dutch society.
Other than language methods, Yolant also uses news items, songs and games. Students say that she listens attentively and is good at creating a safe, comfortable environment in class. They find her friendly, honest, cheerful and patient. Some think she is a bit strict. Everyone works hard in her classes and all students speak Dutch.
Yolant has lived in the east of Amsterdam for over 26 years. In her spare time, she likes to take a ride on her bike or go for a walk. She love reading, watching films, the cabaret and photography.
